Tors Challenge

For those who aren't aware, across Dartmoor are hundreds of Tors, the army hold a yearly '10 Tor Challenge' creating routes between the Tors and raising money for their charities.

We aim to do something similar but on a slightly smaller, less intensive scale.

We want to do this to celebrate Keira and her warrior status while raising money along the way for the charities that helped Keira and the whole family.

We will be raising money buy each person completing a mile and adding this to the group total of 452 miles. Each mile represents a bead of courage Keira earned during her cancer treatment and each bead represents something Keria had to go through. For example, chemo, blood taken, an operation, hair loss, and each night in hospital.

Below, is the details of each Tor we are planning, the route, timings and details of accommodation options.

Once the walking is over we hope you will join us for a party to really celebrate out beautiful daughter.

Date: 24th July

We shall be staying at the campsite on Friday 23rd July and Saturday 24th July, leaving after a nice breakfast on Sunday morning.

Location: Princetown Devon

The main event will be coordinated from the Plume of Feathers Campsite. We have also secured accommodation here.

Campsite and bunkhouse link

We have rented out a function room for Saturday 24th July for lunch and dinner celebrations.
See later for the 7 stages of the walk, we anticipate people will want to complete different stages of the walk, with others staying at the campsite. At the campsite we aim to have children’s activities and tea/coffee whilst others are completing the walk. This allows parents to swap different sections of the walk, certain parts we expect children to be able to join in. The campsite will also be the location for our late afternoon / evening celebrations.

Accommodation

The obvious accommodation is to join us camping at the plume of feathers campsite! No need to book for tents but please let us know your intentions so that we know how many tents we are expecting.

The plume of feathers has 2 Bunkhouses with different sets of rooms. We have provisionally requested all the new bunkhouse rooms so please contact us if you would like one of these rooms. If we don’t have anyone request to book the bunkhouse by late May we will have to let this provisional booking go.

As a separate company the plume of feathers inn has a B&B. They are not aware of our party and I have no idea if they have availability.

There are many other local B&B’s and hotels in the local area. Please book these independently from ourselves.
